Contents It’s the hybrid book which combined iPhone and an ordinary book. You can enjoy interactive actions there, by touching the screen or tipping the book as you read it. Challenge Although iPhone has increasing number of users in the world, it’s generally used by business person for his/her own sake. Our “Phone Book” project has started by challenging to make it into the communication tool between parent and child. All you have to do is to set parent’s iPhone in the child’s book to enjoy it together, which creates new parent-child communication around mobile phone. In the world, more and more displays have been embedded in magazines / books such as electronic paper, but we think the display using rare metals like LC / organic EL is not so compatible with magazines which is basically disposable. (Not good resource optimization, either.) Now is the “one display for one person” era. Here we propose the new media art effectively utilizing this consumer situation –that is “Phone Book.” Aspiration The keyword of Phone Book is “Analog on the Digital Technology”; it combines digital value of iPhone and analogue advantage of books. This new approach will be able to apply to leaflet / catalogue for business use, art book, picture book or educational tool.
